CooKit, one of the most popular solar ovens
I was speaking in a previous article about the types of solar cookers available out there.
The first type that I mentioned was the panel type, in a shape of a semi-circular open area. This type proves to be very effective and very, very popular.
CooKit is, I think, the most popular among the ones in this type. It was developed in 1994 by a group of volunteers, in collaboration with Solar Cookers International, after the design of a French scientist, Roger Bernard.
CooKit is very simple, doesn’t have some kind of a futuristic design, it is built by engineers, to be efficient. It is made of a semi-circular area that is made of panels, acting as a reflector for sun power, a dark/black pot put inside of it and a plastic bag. The bag can be a regular one, but in this case you would need one every single day, or one high-temperature plastic bag per month if you use this kind of bag.
How much meals in a regular day can CooKit actually cook?
CooKit can cook the meals for 5-6 people with only a few hours of good sun! If you have a larger family, then you would need 2 such solar ovens in order to feed them.
The meals cooked this way are healthy, solar cooking preserving nutrients, for a healthier life.
Also, using a solar oven 3 times a week, CooKit reduces fuelwood consumption and related smoke by one third, saves 4 times his value in fuelwood. It can be used for 2 years.
Coming next, the advantages of using CooKit solar oven!

[...] was already saying this, but it is worth saying it again: using CooKit saves 4 times the money used to purchase it, in fuel wood, each year. Using CooKit 3 times per week [...]
