How many types of solar cookers are out there?

Now, if you think about it, there are many types of solar cookers, as many as we can imagine, ebcause anybody can build one, with virtually whatever he has around the house.

But there are manufacturers that build these cookers in an organized way, planned, testing what they build, so the results are much better, even if you have to pay a bit of money to get one of these.

So, if you want to count what types or how many types of solar cooker are there, then we should look at the models built by various commercial manufacturers.

So, counting the class we have :

  • panel cookers
  • box cookers
  • parabolic cookers
  • other

Panel solar cookers

Panel cookers are made in the shape of an open semicircular area that concentrates the light in the middle of the panel itself, where you can put the meal to be cooked.

Box cookers

Box cookers are built in the shape of a box, you can put the meal inside, and use the top as a light reflector as well.

Parabolic sun ovens

Parabolic cookers are made in the shape of an umbrella, many of them actually being build from an umbrella. You can see the same shape in parabolic antennas. Followinf the same principle, they concentrate the energy in the very middle, where all the beams focus, in one single point. Thus, the result is often better.

Others

There are other shapes, made by various people, like the rocket solar cooker or the bottle pasteurizer, which is nothing more than a pet full of water that has inside a can full with whatever you want to pasteurize.

No matter what type you choose, having one of these is a great experience and is very useful, if you live in an area where the sun has a good presence.
